Dear Muslims!
All praise is due to Allah Almighty, as today we begin learning the translation of the Quran. First, let's understand why it's essential to learn the Quran's translation.
You know that Allah Almighty has temporarily placed you on this earth, and soon you will be summoned to His court. Your actions in this life will determine your reward. If you've performed good deeds, you'll be rewarded with a peaceful and blissful life. However, if you've committed evil acts, you'll face suffering and a miserable existence.
As Allah Almighty is merciful to His servants, He hasn't left us unguided. Just as He has provided for our physical well-being with earth, water, air, sun, fruits, and grains, He has also given us guidance for our spiritual growth. These noble principles, good deeds, and guidance are all compiled in the Quran.
As Allah Almighty willed that His servants should recite the Quran frequently, He named it "Quran," which means "the book that is recited often." From today onwards, we will gather daily to recite and understand one verse of the Quran at a time. This will help us comprehend the commands of our Lord and enable us to obey them.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 5027)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Indeed, Allah did not send me to cause difficulty or hardship, but He sent me as a teacher and one who makes things easy."
(Sahih Al Muslim, Hadith No. 1478)
Dear Muslims!
When Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was sent to earth, Allah Almighty immediately instructed him, saying, "O Adam! Guidance will come to you from Me. Those who follow it will be free from sorrow and harm."
Quran reference:
Translation:
“[Allah said, ‘Descend from it, all of you, as enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me – then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter].’”)
One commonly cited Hadith is:
الحديث:
عن أبي ذر رضي الله عنه قال: قلت: يا رسول الله كم الأنبياء؟ قال: مائة ألف وأربعة وعشرون ألفا، الرسل من ذلك ثلاثمائة وخمسة عشر جما غفيرا.
(رواه أحمد والطبراني)
Translation:
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, how many Prophets were there?” He said, “One hundred and twenty-four thousand, among them three hundred and fifteen were Messengers.”
(Ahmad and Al-Tabarani)
In fulfillment of Allah's promise, 124,000 prophets were sent to various nations and lands. Among them, four prophets are particularly well-known:
1. Prophet David (peace be upon him), upon whom the Zabur (Psalms) was revealed.
2. Prophet Moses (peace be upon him), upon whom the Torah was revealed.
3. Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), upon whom the Gospel (Injil) was revealed.
4. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who was sent as a guide for the entire world. His book is the Quran, and his followers are called Muslims.
Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) that we are all Muslims.
Dear Muslims!
Fourteen hundred years ago, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born in Mecca. When he turned 40, Allah Almighty appointed him as His prophet, and for the next 23 years, the Quran was revealed to him. He implemented these revelations and guided others to do the same.
At that time, Muslims were weak and impoverished. However, learning and practicing the Quran led to their dominance in the world. Before his departure from this world, the Prophet gathered Muslims during his farewell pilgrimage and instructed, "I am leaving you with the Book of Allah; hold onto it, and you will never go astray."
He also commanded, "Convey my message to all Muslims, present and future." After his passing, Muslims continued to thrive as long as they adhered to the Quran's principles. However, when they neglected these principles after centuries, other nations gained dominance.
Dear Muslims, Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) that today we begin learning the translation of a single Quranic verse. May Allah grant us the knowledge and practice of the Quran, enabling us to become obedient servants. Ameen.
