Basic purpose of human life: In the light of Quran and Islam.

Allah says;
“ I have not created jinn and men except to worship Me”

In the light of the Quran and Islam, the basic purpose of human life is to:

1. Worship Allah (Tawhid): Recognize and worship Allah as the sole creator and sustainer of the universe. (Quran 51:56)

Quranic References:

Surah Adh-Dhariyat (51:56)

“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:163)

“And your god is one God. There is no deity [worthy of worship] except Him, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.”

Surah Al-Ikhlas (112:1-4)

“Say, ‘He is Allah, [who is] One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.’”

Surah An-Nahl (16:36)

“And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], ‘Worship Allah and avoid false deities.’”

Tawhid is the core concept of monotheism in Islam, emphasizing that God is one and unique, with no partners or peers. It's the central principle of Islam, and understanding its meaning and implications is crucial for Muslims. The word "Tawhid" itself comes from the Arabic root "wahhada," meaning "to unite" or "to make one".

In essence, Tawhid is about recognizing Allah as the sole creator, sustainer, and lord of the universe. It's divided into three categories:

Tawhid al-Rububiyyah”:

Oneness of Divine Lordship, affirming Allah's sovereignty and control over creation.

Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah”:

Oneness of Divinity, dedicating worship and devotion exclusively to Allah.

“Tawhid al-Asma wa'l-Sifat: Oneness of the Divine Names and Attributes, acknowledging Allah's unique and perfect qualities.

Tawhid is not just a theoretical concept; it has practical implications for Muslims. It means living a life surrendered to Allah's will, following His commands, and avoiding any form of polytheism or associating partners with Him. The Quran emphasizes the importance of Tawhid, warning against shirk (attributing divinity to anything other than Allah) and encouraging believers to strive for unity and purity of faith.

By embracing Tawhid, Muslims affirm their commitment to the Islamic declaration of faith: "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." This fundamental principle guides every aspect of a Muslim's life, from worship and prayer to social interactions and personal conduct.
